1. How It Works
Choose the Recipient(s)
Our volunteer crafters lovingly create handmade American Flag Afghans for the veteran of your choice. Each afghan will be sent with a personalized certificate with the veteran’s name and branch of service, along with your personal message of appreciation and gratitude. These afghans are free of charge. Fill out the Afghan Request Form below to send that special veteran in your life a gift from the hearts of many.
2. Sponsor an Afghan

If you’re not donating, skip to Step 3, but please consider sponsoring an afghan to help with our mission. Your gift helps cover the cost of yarn, tax, and delivery. A suggested gift of $75 completes one flag, but any contribution makes a difference. You can choose to donate it to a veteran from our outreach list, or you may provide the name of a veteran who is close to your heart and we will send your donation to them. 3. We Deliver
With Care and Honor
Once completed, the afghan is carefully packaged and shipped directly to the veteran you’ve chosen, along with the certificate and your message of appreciation. For veterans living in Oklahoma, our ‘Midnight Riders’ volunteers go a step further—hand-delivering the afghan in full ceremonial presentation. This special in-person delivery honors the veteran with dignity and respect, creating a memorable experience that reflects the gratitude of an entire community. See Midnight Riders Below.
Midnight Riders Deliveries
Bringing hope on wheels
There is a ceremonial way in which the American Flag Afghans are transported (logistics and scheduling permitting). This transportation will be a "last ride" of sorts for our veteran afghan.
The vision: a team of 7 motorcycle riders, called the Midnight Riders. The team wears black T-shirts (representing darkness) with a tattered American flag on the back and the creed:
"For we ride into darkness, on our shiny, black stallions to deliver some hope to those that are hurting or lost."
Front: “Midnight Riders”
Colors on the front represent:
Red: "From the gates of Hell"
Purple: "Through the blood of Jesus"
Blue: "To the Heavenly realms"
One rider in the front, six in the back "watching his 6," made up of veterans and non-veterans to symbolize unity, but only the veteran will carry the afghan.
If logistics do not permit, a volunteer team of ‘Midnight Riders’ will hand deliver the flag afghans. All hats and scarves are donated to VA nursing care facilities and agencies that work with the homeless. Regular afghans are donated to agencies working with human trafficking victims and women's shelters.
